Flowers For Your Lorikeet

By Kellie Stewart

Safe Flowers:

Lorikeets love to eat flowers to obtain the pollen, and all so just to have the pleasure of ripping something in to pieces. We had a discussion at the last chat group meeting on what flowers are safe to give. This is what we came up with. Wattle, tea-tree, marigolds, roses petals and hips, bottle brush, hibiscus, bankcia, linseed, sunflowers, fuscia and dandilion, including the leaves. Dandilion is a good liver tonic and is high in heaps of goodies, it is a great food to give and the lorikeets go mad on it when they have young in the nest.

Toxic Flowers:

Note from Webmaster:

The list above is by no means exhaustive, the only safe philosophy to use is that if you are unsure of the flower, don't feed it to your lorikeet.
