Edwards Lorikeet

Now over 18 months later the Edwards lorikeets have matured and are at breeding age - over 2 years old . Overall colours are now much brighter, the birds seem to be physically larger and they are so much more confident in dealing with humans and other birds.
The female edwards is playing with Heather, note deep the red beak and bright orange eyes. Her wings are blurred as she is twirling them while calling out with excitement. The male is in the background feeding on some corn-on-the-cob. There is little difference between the two, plumage is just about identical, the male is just slightly larger than the female.
