So you want to be an Internet Service Provider in New Zealand?

  • How much will it cost to get everything set up and going? and where can I get the capital from
  • Who provides Internet connections for a new ISP in New Zealand and should I get involved in one of these cooperatives of ISPs I have read about?
  • Where do I get paying customers from? and how many customers do I need and how much should I charge them?
  • What about advertising and publicity ? ..and promotion schemes?
  • What services do I need to provide? immediately then later?
  • Do I need to provide usenet news? If so what's involved? Where do I get a newsfeed and what newsgroups should I take?
  • What about employing staff Do I need any? When will I need them? and how much will they cost me?
  • Where do I get technical and other support from?
  • New Zealand Internet Organistions
  • Are there any New Zealand Laws concerning ISPs? specifically or in general?
  • Will I make a profit? and what factors will effect my ability to make a profit?
